The Finnish Institute in St. Petersburg maintains cultural relations between Russia and Finland and promotes cooperation between two countries in the fields of culture, research and arts.

There’re over 3 000 books in the library of the institute, written in Russian, Finnish and Swedish. Here you can get information about all cultural and educational programs realized in Finland.
 
The Finnish institute in St. Petersburg is one of 17 Finnish institutes working all over the world.
 
The Institute was founded in 1992 and it is maintained by the St Petersburg Foundation, which has 36 member organizations including most Finnish universities; various cultural organizations; churches; societies and business enterprises.
 
The institute takes an active part in the development of cooperation between Finland and Russia in such fields as science and culture. Since 1999 the institute’s activity is broadening: there’re monthly presentations, results of research works about Russia and Finland, exhibitions, concerts and seminars, different activities devoted to Finnish holidays such as Finland Independence Day, Christmas, Kalevala Day, Mother's Day and many other.
 
The institute also organizes creative competitions and contests for children who study the Finnish language. The Finnish literature is also regularly translated into Russian and published by the institute.
