“Finland – Russia” Society is the independent non-party organization which functions in Finland since 1944. The aim of the society is to facilitate the development of co-operation and contacts in different fields between Finland and Russia.
“Finland – Russia” Society unites people with different interests: the ones interested in the Russian language and culture, the ones whose work is connected to Russia and the ones interested in the culture of Finno-Urgic folks on the territory of Russia.
At present “Finland – Russia” society counts up to 16 000 members. There are about 200 initial organizations of the society working in Finland. Its members voluntarily study the Russian language, tour around the country, organize concerts, friendship evenings, evenings devoted to special occasions, lectures, gather the humanitarian help etc.
The society takes an active part in the development of co-operation with Russia and Nordic countries and European Union within the Baltic and Barents Sea region projects. The society also takes an active part in establishment of the network for cooperation of civil organizations.
