At 20-21 October 2010 the international International Research & Practical Conference “Gender Policy Implementation: from International to Municipal Level” took part in St.Petersburg, Hotel “Oktyabrskaya”, Ligovsky Prospekt, Hall “Kaminny”.
All together more than 55 participants attended this event (incl. 2 from Finland, 2 from Latvia, 1 from Byelorussia). Nevertheless 29 reports were placed in the programme, 14 in a written form published in thesis materials brochure.
Conference discussions covered the following general topical directions:
- International Legal & Political Instruments for Gender Equality Promotion
- Legal & Political Instruments and National Mechanisms for Gender Equality in the Baltic Sea Region States
- Engendering Social Policy on Practice: Analysis, Budgeting, Mapping and Other Implementation Tools
- Engendering Social Policy on Practice: Men and Gender
Key-speakers were specially invited to give reviews on the following eleven issues (i.e. experts):
- International Gender Legislation Within the Frame of European Community
- Gender Policy on Trafficking in Human Beings Prevention in the Baltic Sea Region
- Implementation of Gender Policy in Byelorussia
- Gender Aspects of Social Protection of Children in Local Level
- Mechanisms and Scandinavian Experience on Women’s and Parents Rights Protection
- Gender Regimes of Social Exclusion: Challenges to the Gender Equity Policy
- Gender Education as Gender Policy Promotion Instrument
- Modern Russian Man as Subject of Practicies & Object of Policy
- Social Services for Men: Invisible Clients
- Fatherhood in the Mirror of Russian Media: Preliminary Notes
- Gender Contracts, Birth-giving & “Conversations” about Father’s Roles”
Other reports were selected via received thesis from participants (teachers & students of several universities based at the city), The result of the conference will be collecting material and making a declaration relevant to the Russian situation.
